The Omani cave exploration team has documented a cave in the village of Safi Sahra in Al Jabal Al Akhdar in the Wilayat of Nizwa, Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah, called the Kaslat Safi Sahra cave. The cave site was discovered with the aid of the residents of Safi Sahra, who faced some difficulties when entering the cave due to rocks that might fall.

Omani cave exploration team documents a cave in Al Jabal Al AkhdarTo prevent falling off, the team removed the rocks at its vertical entrance. Due to the cave’s narrow paths, the team had to crawl through these paths in order to enter. The cave was discovered, documented, and surveyed over the course of four to five hours. With its unique aesthetics, the cave will serve as a tourist attraction for the region. Among the various living organisms in the cave are spiders, frogs, and others in varying sizes as well as different lime formations.

The cave was formed in limestone sediments from the Cretaceous period. Cave deposits available here are diverse. The Omani Cave Exploration team explored the cave and its corridors. They also documented its scientific details. The second edition of the book A Guide to the Caves of Oman will be released in the near future. The book will cover the caves surveyed by the team during its previous research.
